Here are some tips to help prevent the growth of bacteria and possible problems you might encounter with your feet`s health:
1.) Keep your feet dry.

After taking a bath, wipe your feet especially in between the toes to prevent having Athlete`s foot. By doing this, you`ll be able to help prevent excess moisture once your foot wear`s on.
2.) Deodorize your feet.
After drying your feet, you can deodorize your feet by using a foot powder or foot spray. This will help prevent foul smell and odor. I personally use Chic`s deodorizing foot powder and DermAid`s foot deodorant spray.
Chic`s deodorizing foot powder contains Talc which is a common ingredient in most baby powders. This ingredient will keep the feet dry especially in between the toes which are very prone to sweating. This foot powder feels so cool and soothing when first applied. This effect will keep the feet feeling fresh. This also contains Zinc, stearate, Magnesium carbonate, Pinus sylvestris leaf oil, Mentha piperita (peppermint) oil, Cymbopogon schoenanthus oil, Tricalcium phosphate, Menthol, Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, and Triclosan. It`s Php 39.00 at Watsons personal care stores.
I also like using DermAid`s foot deodorant spray because it comes really handy when I`m in a hurry or when I`m outside all day. This foot spray keeps my feet refreshed and cool. It contains Ethyl Alcohol, Aqua, Mentol, Polyclyceryl-3 caprylate, Melaleuca alternifolia (Tea Tree) Extract, Fragrance, Cl 42090, and Cl 19140. It`s Php 59.00 at Watsons personal care stores.
3.) Wear socks.

Our feet might have common feet problems like athlete`s foot and fungal infections if it produces too much moisture especially when it`s trapped inside the shoes the whole day everyday. Wearing socks can help absorb the feet`s moisture therefore preventing the common feet problems.
4.) Wear comfortable shoes.

Don`t wear high heels or flats too often. These types of footwear doesn`t usually provide good support. If you have to wear high heels most of the time, try choosing those with wider heels or bring and wear comfortable footwear when you can. Flats don`t also provide enough support. Choose footwear with up to 2" of support.
5.) Rest and Massage Feet.

Our feet suffers greatly especially after a long day. Don`t forget to rest your feet during the day. If you can, stretch or massage feet, ankles and toes after long and tiring walks. I often stretch my ankles and toes by doing circular motions.
Don`t neglect the feet. As much as possible, we should try to take care our whole body including the feet. Every body part has a special function and we must ensure that they`re well taken care of.
